About the project

Design Utopia is the identity for a five-day exhibition, 20 to 24 November 2023, inspired by the design practices of Mary Featherston and Zaha Hadid.

It was a university project. I designed the visual identity, the exhibition graphics and a motion piece.

Brand language

The guide sets out who the exhibition is and how it talks. Its three principles are carefully brief, playfully astute and serenely honest, and it covers tone of voice, type, colour and the don’ts.

Pixel identity

The wordmark and the big D are built from pixel blocks and simple shapes, so they can be filled in, broken apart and put back together. Black carries the system, with bright green, yellow, pink and blue on top.

Posters, banners and a street pillar take “Re-imagine the design future” out into the city, with the dates always in the corner. The brochure and gift boxes carry the same shapes at hand size.
